Yesterday we reported that former Texas A&M head coach Jackie Sherrill was saying that LSU and A&M would replace the current LSU vs Arkansas game on Thanksgiving weekend. Since then, both Arkansas AD Jeff Long and LSU AD Joe Alleva have said that Sherrill has no idea what he’s talking about.

Here’s what Sherrill told Bo Mattingly on Wednesday on his radio show:

“It’s already been discussed,” Sherrill said Wednesday. “It’s been talked about. Commissioner Slive, they all have talked about it, and LSU and A&M is going to play on prime time on Thanksgiving night, because that game will draw more people than the Arkansas-LSU, or Arkansas-A&M.”

LSU’s Joe Alleva told Bayou Bengals Insider that Sherrill doesn’t know what he’s talking about.

“Well, that’s totally wrong. I don’t think Jackie knows what’s going on,” Alleva said on an interview found on Bayou Bengals Insider. “I don’t think he’s been at SEC meetings and I don’t think he’s knows what’s up.”

The funny thing is that on May 30th, Alleva told reporters that he expects the long-time rivalry between LSU and A&M to eventually take the place of the Arkansas game. He expects that this could happen as early as 2014.

“Arkansas will be in the middle somewhere,” said Alleva.

Meanwhile, Arkansas AD Jeff Long went on HogSportsRadio’s  TJ Carpenter Show and said the following:
