Brady Hoke said one of his players will wear former President Gerald Ford’s number 48 jersey this season.

The former President’s jersey is only one of five Michigan jerseys that have been retired. Ford was Michigan’s MVP during his three years on the roster during the 1932-1934 seasons. He was a part of two national championships (32, 33).

Interesting? I’d say so. How many schools do you see pulling jersey’s out of retirement so that players can wear them? Better be a special player.

Ford’s jersey isn’t the only one going back into circulation. Bennie Oosterbaan (47) and Ron Kramer (87), will also be put back into circulation.
“This is an outstanding way to recognize our former greats,” Hoke said in a statement. “It speaks to the tradition and success of our program, and it honors those who led the way in the past.”
