There are only two unbeaten teams in the country, and Kevin Sumlin’s Houston Cougars is one of those teams. Sumlin’s Qb is also on the verge of making a trip to New York for the Heisman presentation.
It’s pretty obvious that Houston should be in a BCS bowl, but there are some out there that think they shouldn’t because of the conference they play in. To those people, I ask you why? If Boise State has been playing in BCS games, even if we didn’t want them to because they have been playing lesser opponents for the last 5 years, why can’t Houston?
We all know that Conference USA competition isn’t the best by any means, but what does that matter anymore? Houston did start their season with a PAC 12 team, UCLA and beat them 38 to 34. The rest of their out of conference schedule is pretty pathetic though, and will not help their case.
But again, if this were Boise State, everyone would be screaming for them to be in a BCS game, if not the title game.
Houston beat C-USA opponents by an average margin of 37 points and dominated C-USA.
Houston, with Case Keenum, is a team that could upset anyone on any given Saturday. Give them a chance to display their offense against say, an Alabama in the Sugar Bowl. Lets see what they can do against a real defense.
Next year when Keenum is gone, I fully expect Houston to come back down to Earth, so Coach Sumlin, if someone with a better job comes calling …. TAKE IT!
