Western Athletic Commisioner Jeff Hurd told The Denver Post that the conference likely won’t have enough members next season to be a football conference.
The WAC is currently made up of seven teams: Idaho, Louisiana Tech, New Mexico State, San Jose State, Texas State, Utah State, and UTSA. Of those seven, five plan on leaving the WAC next season, which would put the conference under the seven member limit.
Hurd says, ‘there aren’t any obvious answers out there.”
The WAC is hoping to stay a conference in all other sports though.
