For the second time in 3 years LSU will open the season with a game in Dallas. This time the Tigers will face off against TCU.
The schools made the announcement on Tuesday afternoon and stated the game would take place on Saturday, August 31st.
The last time the Tigers appeared in the Cowboys Classic opener was last season against the Oregon Ducks when the match up featured two teams ranked in the top 5. LSU won the game 40 – 27 and went on to finish the season 13 – 1.
It’s likely that both teams will be ranked when they face off in 2013 in Dallas and since LSU travels well and TCU is located in Fort Worth, the game should be easily sold out.
The matchup will be the first between the teams since 1968 when the Tigers beat the Horned Frogs, 10 – 7, in Tiger Stadium. LSU leads the series with TCU, 5 – 2 – 1. LSU and TCU first met on Jan. 1, 1936 in the Sugar Bowl with the Horned Frogs winning, 3 – 2.
