By | September 29, 2012

The 78th Battle for Floyd of Rosedale has begun in Iowa City. Floyd is the bronze pig awarded to the winner of the Minnesota/Iowa game since 1935.

Below, Iowa FS Tanner Miller snatches away a Minnesota pass from QB Max Shortell (Marqueis Gray is out with a high ankle sprain). Miller looks to be behind a step but makes the best of his positioning by coming down with the ball. The call on the field was no catch but instant replay corrected the call. Below the gif

Above, Iowa throws a flea flicker for a 47 yard TD. This play was set up by another monster performance by Iowa walk-on running back Mark Weisman who has run for 155 yards (9.7 per carry) and a touchdown already in the first half. Here, Weisman takes the handoff drawing in the defense but then pitches the ball back to QB James Vandenberg who passed to a wide open Jordan Cotten who walked into the endzone.

Iowa is up 0-24 at the half.
