Georgia holds on against Tennessee but shows weakness

Saturday Georgia beat Tennessee 51 – 44. That score is not indicative of the defense that Georgia should be boasting that they have. The Bulldogs were challenged both in the air and on the ground by the Vols, giving up 281 passing yards to Tyler Bray and allowing running back Rajion Neal to rush for 104 yards.

The Bulldogs were thought to have one of the easier schedules in the SEC on the road to the SEC Championship, but with South Carolina and Florida in the top 10, the Bulldogs now seem to have a lot tougher road. They head to Columbia next week to take on the number 6 Gamecocks and then two weeks later face the 10th ranked Gators at home.

But even though the Georgia defense gave up 478 yards, their offense offset that with an outstanding performance of their own. Aaron Murray was 19 of 25 for 278 yards, 2 touchdowns, and 1 interception, but Murray wasn’t even the spotlight for the Dawgs. Two freshmen running backs have emerged to replace the banished Isaiah Crowell, both Keith Marshall and Todd Gurley had over 100 yards rushing.

It appears that the Bulldogs may have a better offense without Crowell than they thought they would have.
