Utah’s Nate Fakahafua strips Matt Barkley and scores on USC’s opening play, Trojans answer with one-handed grab from Randall Telfer

Matt Barkley and the Trojans are off to a rough start. On their first play from scrimmage, the center Khaled Holmes snapped the ball between Barkley’s legs and Utah’s Nate Fakahafua was there when Barkley picked it up. Fakahafua stripped the ball from the Trojans’ quarterback and took it in for a touchdown to put the Trojans down 7 early.

On their next possession after a second Utah kickoff, the USC center Holmes snapped the ball too early and again Utah recovered the fumble and scored quickly going up 14 – 0 with 12 minutes left in the first quarter.

The Trojans did follow those two horrible opening drives with a drive the field and score on a Silas Redd touchdown run and have since added another touchdown on a spectacular catch from Randall Telfer.
