The Alabama Crimson Tide lost their first game since November 5th 2011, and it came to a team in their first season in the SEC.
Aggie quarterback Johnny Manziel had 24 completions in only 31 attempts for 253 yards and 2 touchdowns, but it’s what Manziel did on the ground that made the difference for the Aggies. Manziel ran for 92 yards, which was just enough to keep the Bama defense on their heels the whole game allowing him to throw for those 253 yards.
Manziel’s counter AJ McCarron didn’t have a horrible day, but he did have his first 2 interceptions of the season and one of them came on the Tide’s final drive when they had a shot to win another game in the final 1:40 for the second week in a row. The Tide then held A&M to a punt but jumped offside and A&M was able to run out the clock.
This is a tough loss for the Tide and for the moment likely knocks the SEC out of the national championship game for the first time in 6 years.
Kevin Sumlin is making a splash in his first season in the SEC. A&M will be a force in the future with the talent they have and will be getting.
