For the first time in school history, the Notre Dame Fighting Irish will be playing in the BCS National Championship game. After beating USC on the road in the Coliseum, the Irish secured their spot in the game finishing the season as the only undefeated team in the country.

The next team the Irish will face will be one from the SEC, and the arguments and debates can begin as soon as the clock hits 0:00 in the 4th quarter of the SEC Championship game next weekend. Alabama or Georgia?

The Irish started the season with one of the countries toughest schedules, but as the season has progressed a lot of those teams have fallen by the wayside and proved to maybe be overrated.

The one constant for the Irish has been the play of linebacker Manti Te’o. Te’o has been a defensive force and an even better person. His trip to New York has been sealed. Will he win the Heisman? Who knows, but he’s led the Irish defense through some close calls and he deserves it as much as the next guy.

Now we look forward and wait. Wait for the SEC yet again to decide what will happen.

Here’s video of Notre Dame’s goal line stand against USC, which could also be called “Lane Kiffin’s inexplicable coaching decisions with the game on the line and 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th and goal”.
