Louisville head coach Charlie Strong has long been mentioned for a big time coaching job and now it seems that rumors are out that he’s interviewed for the Auburn job.
AL.com reports that “the conversation took place in the last two days with someone representing Auburn, al.com has learned, according to someone familiar with the process”.
Strong has since come out and vehemently denied this claim to both Pete Thamel, who has a lot of affection for Auburn, and Pat Forde.
Just spoke to Charlie Strong. He’s angry. He says he did not interview at Auburn and has not spoken to them. “It’s not true.”

Charlie Strong, just now: “I didn’t interview with Auburn, I have a job.”

It wouldn’t surprise me at all if Auburn went after Strong. He’s a great coach and would definitely have a big impact in the SEC after spending plenty of time at South Carolina and Florida.
He’s brought Louisville into the spotlight and now that the Cardinals are joining the ACC, Strong could make an even bigger name for himself should he choose to stay and have success within the ACC.
