Former Kansas Jayhawks head coach Mark Mangino has been mentioned for the Colorado Buffalos opening after second year coach Jon Embree was fired. Mangino coached the Jawhawks for seven years from 2002 – 2009 with an overall record of 50 – 48.
Mangino decided to clear that rumor up today though by taking to his twitter account and publicly stating that he’s asked for his name to be removed from consideration for the position.
Mangino was pretty much forced to resign from the Jayhawks after an investigation of mistreatment of football players took place in 2009. He led the Jayhawks to a 12 – 1 season, their best in school history, in 2007 that ended with a 24 – 21 Orange Bowl win over Virginia Tech.
Since Mangino’s departure from the Jayhawks, the school has won a total of 6 games in 3 seasons and is on their second head coach.
Mangino has also been rumored with the Purdue job, and has yet to publicly remove his name from consideration for it.
