Wisconsin’s Bret Bielema is headed to the SEC to coach the Arkansas Razorbacks.
Wisconsin is returning to the Rose Bowl for the third straight year after going only 8-5 in the regular season. The Badgers won the B1G Championship this year despite placing third in their division. Wisconsin played in the B1G Championship game because both Penn State and Ohio State are ineligible this season. Despite being third in their division the Badgers crushed Nebraska 70-31 in the B1G Championship Game.
Bielema had a 68-24 record at Wisconsin. Bielema was promoted to head coach in 2006 after two years as the Badger’s Defensive Coordinator. Bielema was also an assistant coach at K-State under Bill Snyder and Iowa under Hayden Fry and then current Iowa head coach Kirk Ferentz. Bielema was a nose guard at Iowa.
It is currently unknown if Bielema will coach Wisconsin in the Rose Bowl. Paul Chryst is rumored to be in the running to replace Beilema.
Bielema will replace John L. Smith lead the Razorbacks to a disappointing 4-8 record. Smith was an interim coach hired after Bobby Petrino was dismissed.
