The Alabama Crimson Tide have won 3 BCS titles in 4 years. It’s now safe to say that Nick Saban has created a dynasty. When you lose your whole defense to the NFL in the first round and repeat as BCS Champs there’s only one thing to do, attempt a 3rd title in 3 years.
Notre Dame fought bravely for 1 minute before the Alabama offensive line began to push the talented Irish defense around like rag-dolls. The Tide drove 82 yards in 2 minutes and 57 seconds and scored on a spectacular run by Eddie Lacy.
The Tide followed that initial drive up with drives of 61 yards in 4:49, 80 yards in 4:26, 71 yards in 3:12, and 97 yards in 5:37 before giving up a touchdown to Notre Dame with 4 minutes left in the 4th quarter. Bama then followed the Irish drive up with an 86 yard drive that took up 7:41 to go up 42 – 7 and secure their place in college football history.
Notre Dame did manage to score again in the 4th, but it was way too late.
Saban was fine with the Gatorade bath.
