Oklahoma Sooners defensive coordinator Mike Stoops had some pretty telling comments about Johnny Manziel after he won the Heisman Trophy.
“They’re gonna be tough to deal with. If they can keep him out of jail or keep him eligible, he’s gonna be pretty good,” Stoops said.
“If they can keep him off the Twitter, he might win three or four Heismans. He’ll have that type of ability.”
Well now Stoops has backtracked a little bit saying that he regrets the comments he made about Manziel.
Stoops reached out through an OU athletics department spokesman late Friday to indicate he regretted his radio comments and has the “utmost respect for Texas A&M and Johnny Manziel.”
No matter what Manziel does, at this point it will definitely take a backseat to what Heisman finalist Manti Te’o has done or been a part of.
