Tennessee Volunteers head coach Butch Jones

Yeah, there’s no video here.

New Tennessee Volunteers head coach Butch Jones sent a letter to the parents of his football players last week to introduce himself and show parents that he isn’t like Derek Dooley and wants them involved.

According to GoVolsXtra, parents of players are welcome to “call him at any time”.

“I look forward to meeting you and being part of your son’s life,” Jones said.

Jones told parents that players were “being introduced” to his seven core values: loyalty, commitment, family, honesty, accountability, focus and persistence.

“These seven core values can be values that guide your son throughout his entire life and enrich and reward his family life,” Jones wrote. “Players, coaches and staff that live life the right way, attend classes and tutorial sessions and put forth great effort cannot be stopped short of success because they are too invested in making sure they cannot fail.”

Yep, that’s pretty much the complete opposite of Derek Dooley who had some bad relationships with a few student’s parents.

The letter also invited parents to a Family Day barbecue on March 16th.
