North Carolina unveiled new uniform designs at their spring game on Saturday. The Tar Heel jerseys are similar to their traditional style. The road jerseys now have black numbers and there is now striping above on the arms. They have also gone for a larger stripe on the helmets.
According to Nike, “the Tar Heels will have three jersey options available in 2013, including a Carolina blue top with black numbers, a white jersey with black numbers and a black jersey with Carolina blue numbers. Carolina has three pant options including Carolina blue, white and black.”
“Our kids are excited about the new uniforms,” said UNC head football coach Larry Fedora. “When they saw them for the first time they got fired up about wearing them this year. We wanted to design a uniform that connected our team to The Tar Pit, our name for the student section.”
Below, is the team’s reaction to the new jerseys.
I think they liked it. The Tar Heels will wear the all-black uniforms against Miami on Thursday, Oct. 17, at Kenan Stadium.
