Chad Kelly, potential Tajh Boyd replacement and nephew of NFL Hall of Fame quarterback Jim Kelly, has been dismissed from the Clemson football team for ‘conduct detrimental to the program’.
Here’s the statement issued by Clemson coach Dabo Swinney:
“I have dismissed Chad Kelly for conduct detrimental to our program,” said Swinney. “He has had a pattern of behavior that is not consistent with the values of our program. I hope he will mature and grow from this and become the man and player I know he can be. I wish him nothing but the best in the future academically and athletically.”
It was reported earlier that Kelly was led off the practice field by Clemson police.
Multiple sources now, Chad Kelly escorted out of West End Zone by CU Police, waiting to hear if he is still on the team (thinking no)

While we don’t know exactly what Kelly did, it’s safe to assume it was bad enough for Dabo to end it almost immediately.
Kelly added to his statement with the following:
“I hope he will mature and grow from this and become the man and player I know he can be. I wish him nothing but the best in the future academically and athletically.”
