1. Alabama Crimson Tide – All of the STARS!
Once again, National Signing Day will be known as Nick Saban Day. Saban has shown that no matter what happens during the season, whether or not he wins a BCS championship, doesn’t matter because he can out recruit ALL OF YOUR COACHES! Saban’s class not only fills the needs that he had, it goes beyond expectations and pretty much guarantees that Alabama will be a force to reckon with over the next 3 years.
Biggest Gets: DB Landon Collins, RB T.J. Yeldon, WR Eddie Williams, LB Reggie Ragland
2. Ohio State Buckeyes – A fresh new start
Ohio State was going to have a bad recruiting year right? WRONG! With the hiring of Urban Meyer, the Buckeyes almost overnight secured some of the nations top talent. Meyer will have some lofty expectations to live up to after his run at Florida. Buckeye fans won’t accept anything other than winning out of this recruiting class, and Meyer got the talent to do just that.
Biggest Gets: DE Noah Spence, DE Adolphus Washington, DT Tommy Schutt, DE Se’von Pittman
3. Florida Gators – Lets try this again
Last year, Florida coach Will Muschamp struggled to hold it together over the course of the season. He never could quite get things 100% clicking after losing his quarterback Jeff Driskel to injury and having a few other setbacks. This year, with the Gators having another top 5 recruiting class, the expectations to Win the SEC East and compete for the SEC championship will be higher than ever.
Biggest Gets: OL D.J. Humphries, DE Jonathan Bullard, DE Donte Fowler Jr., TE Kent Taylor
4. Florida State Seminoles – He did what?
Jimbo Fisher’s recruiting class is probably the most impressive collection of blue chip talent that he is ever going to assemble. Fisher easily wins the day for best recruits in the top 50 by pretty much every recruiting site. Jimbo will have to improve this season though, because with talent like this, how could they not win the ACC or at least be in the ACC championship game.
Biggest Gets (there’s a lot): DT Mario Edwards, DT Eddie Goldman, DE Chris Casher, RB Mario Pender, LB Ukene Eligwe
5. Stanford Cardinal – You’ve got to be kidding!
After losing Andrew Luck to the draft this season, no one would have given a thought if Stanford were to drop off the face of the Earth and come back down to reality. David Shaw is obviously out to prove that he isn’t about to let the Cardinal slip back into mediocrity, or whatever you would call them before the Harbaugh era began. If Shaw can assemble a team to compete with Oregon and USC this season, the Cardinal may be here to stay for a while. (Stanford did not sign a QB)
Biggest Gets: OL Kyle Murphy, DE Aziz Shittu, OL Andrus Peat, OL Josh Garnett, DB Alex Carter
The rest of the top 10:
6. Texas Longhorns – Obviously Mack Brown is still around.
7. Michigan Wolverines – Brady Hoke could have been top 5 easily.
8. Southern California Trojans – Lane Kiffin …. STRIPPERS!
9. Georgia Bulldogs – And to think people wanted Richt fired after the first two games.
10. LSU Tigers – Filled his needs apparently.
WON THE DAY
Missouri Tigers – We represent the SEC now!!!
With their entry into the SEC next season, Missouri was looking to make a splash on recruiting day. Their overall recruiting class isn’t the greatest, but it’s definitely enough to get them started in the SEC, and with the commitment of Dorial Green-Beckham Missouri made the impression that they are ready to give the SEC their best shot!
Virginia Tech Hokies – Beamer can do better than he did.
Arizona Wildcats – Rich Rod didn’t have enough time.
West Virginia Mountaineers – Would have expected at least one big sign from Holgo.
Iowa Hawkeyes – Absolutely disappointing class from Ferentz.
TCU Horned Frogs – A move to the Big 12 next year didn’t help Patterson at all.
Wisconsin Badgers – WHERE ARE YOU!
