Marqise Lee vows to do what it takes to compete for Heisman

USC Trojan wide receiver Marqise Lee

USC sophomore wide receiver Marqise Lee probably should have been in New York for the Heisman trophy presentation.

Lee led the nation in receptions per game with 9.33 and was second in receiving yards per game with 140, and while Lee’s 1680 total yards was second to Baylor’s Terrance Williams’ 1764, Lee meant more to his team.

Lee has vowed to make another run at the Heisman next season, but will have to do so without quarterback Matt Barkley.

“I’m not going to really focus on the trophy, but I’m going to make sure I compete and do the things I need to do in order to just get back up there,” he said. “It was good just to be mentioned in that conversation.”

If Lee is to have a chance at a trip to New York, Max Wittek will have to help him get there and the Trojans will have to do better than they did this season, but that’s pretty obvious.
